About George Brant

George Brant is a contemporary playwright who continues to get national and international attention for his dynamic new works. He grew up in Park Ridge, Illinois and attended Northwestern University in Illinois, graduating with a BFA in Acting. Before finding his voice as a writer, Brant dabbled in acting, performing in the Chicago area for more than 10 years. He later received his MFA in Writing from the University of Texas at Austin.

Brant started his career and continues to build his career as a freelance writer with the support of fellowships and paid internships from varying organizations. He has worked with theatre companies and non-profits from across the country including Trinity Repertory Company, Cleveland Playhouse, WordBRIDGE Playwright’s Laboratory, and The New Harmony Project. Additionally, Brant’s plays have been produced all over the world, including at Towson University, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland, the Kennedy Center, and the Gate Theatre of London.

Brant’s scripts have been awarded the David Mark Cohen National Playwriting Award from the Kennedy Center, the Keen Prize for Literature, a Scotsman Fringe Fest Award, and many more. Brant’s work continues to be produced across the world and in schools across the country. Brant currently resides in Cleveland Heights, Ohio.
